TWU scholarships offers more than $10 million in scholarship money each year, which are based on merit, departmental, endowed, and need-based scholarships. The TWU Pioneer Scholarship System is now accepting applications from new and returning students for the Spring and Fall semesters.

- TWU scholarships applicants must first apply to Texas Woman’s University (TWU) through Apply Texas.
- Before applying to the TWU Online Scholarship Application System, applicants must first create a Pioneer Portal account on the TWU Pioneer Scholarship system. Log in with your pioneer portal username and password.
- There are Recommended Opportunities within the Pioneer Scholarship System, and each one requires students to fill out an application by hand.
- Applicants are not required to be accepted or admitted to a program in order to apply for scholarships. Scholarships, however, will not be awarded until they have been accepted.
- The information provided will assist you in narrowing your scholarship options and being “auto-matched” for possible New Student Scholarships.
- All award notifications are sent to your TWU email account. Awards must be accepted online before funds are transferred to your Financial Aid account. Scholarships are only given out during the fall and spring semesters.
- If you are related to a member of the TWU Board of Regents, please notify scholarships@twu.edu of your relationship.

Nationality Eligible for TWU Scholarships
To be eligible for TWU financial aid through TWU scholarships, you must be a female student and a permanent Texas resident.
TWU scholarships worth
TWU scholarships range from $1,200 to $3,000 per year and can be renewed for up to four years, as well as other TWU financial aid.
Please keep in mind that all award notifications are sent to your TWU email account. TWU scholarship awards must be accepted online before funds are transferred to your Financial Aid account. Scholarships are awarded during the fall and spring semesters only.
Texas Woman’s University – TWU Financial Aid Eligibility
Students must meet the following requirements to be eligible to apply for a Texas Women’s University (TWU) Scholarship:
- By the application deadline, you must have all required admission applications and academic transcripts in the TWU Admissions Office or Graduate Admissions Office.
- Enroll in full-time classes (minimum of 12 hours for undergraduates; minimum 9 hours for graduate students and 6 hours for graduate assistants).
- Declare a major if you are an undergraduate student with at least 24 semester hours attempted, or a graduate student with at least 12 semester hours attempted.

Students may request an exception if they meet the following criteria:
The student will be graduating during the semester of the award, or your degree program requires less than full-time enrollment (example: clinical documents, student teaching, thesis, dissertation, or professional paper), or the scholarship description allows for part-time enrollment.
How do I apply for TWU Scholarships?
Follow this step-by- step process to apply for TWU scholarships
- Apply through the Apply Texas application. TWU will assign an ID number to your application after it has been downloaded for three days.
- Create your Pioneer Portal Account, then apply for scholarships through the TWU Pioneer Scholarship System. The online system determines which scholarships each student is eligible to apply for. Fill out the general application and submit it to be automatically matched for scholarships.
- Once the general application has been submitted, click on “Opportunities” to review other Recommended Opportunities at the left of the screen to see the options that are available to you.
- TWU graduate scholarships must be applied for manually in the system. Prior to admission, graduate student applicants are encouraged to apply for the New Graduate Student Scholarship.
- Click Apply next to the scholarships you want to apply for, and make a note of the deadline. The TWU General Scholarship Committee is in charge of choosing new and continuing scholarship recipients. TWU Scholarships will be terminated if a recipient withdraws from TWU, fails to meet academic progress requirements, or attends less than full-time each long term; only then will the TWU financial aid be denied or rejected.

The main TWU scholarship priority deadline for fall and spring semesters is March 15th. The online system determines which scholarships each student is eligible to apply for.

Terry Foundation Scholarship
Terry Foundation Scholarship are Scholarships for College Freshmen. The Terry Foundation is a Houston-based organization founded in 1986 by Houston philanthropists Howard and Nancy Terry to provide scholarships to outstanding Texas high school graduates and transfer students for attendance at state-run public universities. The first-time-in-college scholarship covers up to full tuition, fees, on-campus room and board, books, and supplies.
This scholarship is renewable for four years, whereas the transfer scholarship is renewable for up to three academic years or until graduation. Recipients must live on campus for the first year of college, maintain full-time enrollment, have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, file the FASFA application each year, write a self-evaluation letter to the Terry Foundation each year, and attend all programs sponsored by the donor.
Terry Scholarships are awarded each year to deserving first-year and transfer students.
TWU Presidential Scholarship
The Presidential Scholarship is available to first-year college students who are Valedictorian or Salutatorian of their high school class. This scholarship covers full tuition and mandatory fees for up to four years, excluding room, board, and books. Recipients are chosen from a pool of scholarship applicants. To keep the scholarship, recipients must maintain a 3.25 GPA.
TWU Honors Scholarship
This scholarship is worth $6,000 per academic year and can be renewed for a total of four years. The Honors Scholars Program applicant pool is used to select recipients. (For more information, see the Honors Scholars Program page.)
New Transfer Student Scholarship
This scholarship is available to undergraduate students transferring to TWU from accredited community colleges or four-year universities who have completed at least 13 semester credit hours. Awards are at least $2,000 per year for up to three years, or until the bachelor’s degree is completed, whichever comes first. This scholarship is awarded based on a combination of cumulative grade point average and the number of semester credit hours transferred to TWU.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
This scholarship is open to undergraduate students transferring to TWU for the fall semester who are active members of Phi Theta Kappa in good standing. Full-time enrollment and a 3.5-grade point average. This award is valid for up to two years or until the completion of the bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first. Post-baccalaureate students are not eligible for Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship.
Other Undergraduate TWU Scholarships for New and Returning Students
Mary Bryan and Tom C. Reitch Memorial Scholarship
These $1,500 scholarships are available to new entering undergraduate and graduate students, as well as current TWU students who have completed at least 24 semester credit hours. Academic achievement and financial need are combined to determine awards. To keep the scholarship, recipients must reapply each year.
Departmental Fellowships
Every year, hundreds of endowed and donor-gifted scholarships are awarded. Scholarship funds are available from the majority of academic departments and alumni groups. Department awards are chosen from applications submitted through the TWU online scholarship system before the deadlines of March 15 for the fall semester and November 15 for the spring semester. Academic achievement and major are the most common reasons for receiving an award.
