AGBU Scholarship

AGBU scholarship program is one of the oldest international education scholarship that awards over $1 million annually to successful recipients to cover cost of attendance. The scholarship program is of Armenian origin. However, it has gained worldwide popularity and coverage due to its wide scope.  For nearly a century, AGBU Scholarship Program has assisted tens of thousands of deserving university students in pursuing higher education at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions.

AGBU is an acronym for the Armenian General Benevolent Union. Every year, the scholarship program award over $1 million to students pursuing graduate and undergraduate degrees in over 40 countries across six continents.

The AGBU Scholarship Program is made possible by the many benefactors and donors who have established endowments or contributed over the years since the 1920s. AGBU scholarship program is  able to provide students with the assistance they require to succeed at each stage of their education. This is the core mandate of the scholarship program.

Sponsor(s) of the scholarship

The Armenian General Benevolent Union sponsors the AGBU scholarship for degree-seeking students who wish to study in Canada or any other country other than the United States. Winners will receive up to $3,000 to cover all education expenses.

AGBU deadline

Application deadlines are June 1st and July 15th.

Any undergraduate, graduate, or post-secondary study program in a Canadian or any school in a country other than the United States is eligible. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Students of Armenian descent must be enrolled in institutions in their countries of residence.

How to Apply for AGBU scholarship

1. Interested applicants must submit their admission applications through their respective universities’ online portals. You can applu for AGBU scholarship by logging into the organization’s portal.
2. Documents in Support must be attached: All supporting documents must be presented to the university by the students. These documents include: Recommendation(s), Essay, Transcripts, Resume, Photograph in passport size, Bursar’s receipt copy and Financial award letter copy.
3. Admission Eligibility Requirements should also be complies with. These requirements include the language Requirement, etc. Students must submit the necessary documents to demonstrate their English language proficiency.

Students who are awarded this scholarship will receive $3,000 per semester (a total of $245,600) towards the cost of any degree program of their choice at a university outside of the United States or Canada.
